Update on Covid-19 in Indonesia: Local Omicron Patients Have Been To This Restaurant

Nadia revealed this in a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (28 December 2021).

This patient from Medan is the 47th Omicron patient in Indonesia. The other 46 people infected with Omicron were due to traveling abroad or having close contact with foreign travellers.

Unlike the 46 other Omicron cases, this patient from Medan was evacuated at the Sulianti Saroso Infection Center Hospital (RSPI), Jakarta. The other patients are at the Wisma Atlet Covid Emergency Hospital (RSDC), Kemayoran, Jakarta.

"This latest one is the case of a 37-year-old man who has no history of traveling abroad in the last few months, or contact with foreign travelers," said Nadia.

RSPI Sulianti Saroso is the best choice to monitor this latest Omicron case because it has strict supervision by medical personnel and complete facilities to minimize the possibility of transmission. The patient's clinical condition is currently asymptomatic.

''Infection control in the hospital will be better and will be more stringent supervision. That's why we brought him to the RSPI hospital,'' said Nadia.

Tracing is still in process until now, considering that the person concerned is doing a lot of activities. This means, continued Nadia, we have to look at 14 days before the patient is tested positive, namely 14 days before December 19, 2021. Tracing is carried out to find anyone who has close contact with the patient, including restaurants in the SCBD area, the apartment where the patient lives, and other activities. while the patient is in Jakarta.

The government always monitors the increased risk of COVID-19 transmission, both at the provincial and district levels. The central government and local governments continue to work closely with all parties to continue to monitor, especially if potential clusters emerge.
