JAKARTADAILY.ID – The Indonesian Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim clarified his statement regarding "shadow organizations" within the Ministry of Education and Culture.
In his clarification, Nadiem said that the so-called shadow organization is actually a vendor called GovTech Edu which is part of PT Telkom.
"There is a slight mistake in using the word 'shadow organization,' what I mean is that this organization is actually a mirroring of the Ministry of Education and Culture," explained Nadiem in a Working Meeting with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Monday, September 26, 2022.
Nadiem further said that "mirroring" as in the GovTech Edu team will work with each Directorate General within the Ministry of Education and Culture to produce and provide technology-based educational services.
Previously, on the agenda of the United Nations Transforming Education Summit, Nadiem said that there is a "shadow organization" with a team consisting of 400 people.
The managers of the digital transformation team have the same level of authority as the Director General (Dirjen), according to Nadiem.
